Hey Gang!

Screenwriter based in bustling
New York City

I’m Mariatou and I write stories that explore the complexities in our world as well as spark controversy and conversation in a way that subverts harmful stereotypes and rhetoric instilled in the many identities I harbor as a First-generation, black, Muslim Woman.

ABOUT MARIATOU

I’m just a regular, degular, shmegular, girl from the Bronx (arguably the best borough). I primarily focus on episodic comedy and drama writing.

My time at NYU has consisted not only of honing my skills as a writer but also doing improv/sketch comedy. Through those endeavors I’ve successfully developed a quick wittiness in terms of improvisation and on-the-spot creativity, as well as strengthened my voice as a performer.

I am driven by my desire to uplift underrepresented voices and bring forth authentic and relatable narratives to the forefront. I seamlessly weave my cultural background and unique personal experiences into my storytelling, creating thought-provoking and impactful content that resonates with audiences.
